Today’s guest blogger is Bill Riden, our Pesticide Education Specialist. He is providing information about upcoming Dealer Manager Certification Training Seminars he is coordinating.

If you are a pesticide dealer selling restricted use pesticides to customers in Pennsylvania, December 11, 2012 is an important date to you. By this date, you must have a certified dealer manager on staff if you wish to sell restricted use pesticides in Pennsylvania.

Penn State’s Pesticide Education Program has announced upcoming dealer manager certification training seminars to aid perspective dealer managers in preparation for the exam.

The training will run from 9:00am to 2:00pm with the exam being given at 2:00pm. Please note that you do not need to take the exam at this time. Exam fees for the first year are being waived by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Reserve your spot today, as only 25 registrants will be accepted, by contacting Kathy Branstetter at the Penn State Pesticide Education Program at krb16@psu.edu or 814-863-0263. The seminar and training materials are free but lunch will be at your own expense.

As a reminder, persons currently holding a valid pesticide applicator certification can be “grand-fathered” in to receive this new dealer manager certification. However, the deadline is December 11, 2012. After this date, everyone wishing to be certified will need to take the exam. Contact the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture for the procedure to be “grand-fathered.”

For questions about the training, please contact Bill Riden at wmr11@psu.edu or 814-865-5192.

Until next time,
